Frequently Asked Questions..
What is Bombshell Bath & Body? How/why did you start?
Simply put, Bombshell Bath & Body is a cosmetics company offering high quality spa products to women without breaking the bank. As a self professed beauty product junkie with way too many unused and expensive products just sitting on my shelves, I started thinking about what was both right and wrong with products out there and what changes I would make to them if I could. I loved the benefits of all natural botanical products, but disliked the packaging and more importantly, never understood why the scents never smelled as "fresh" as advertised. I adored packaging of certain companies, yet was always disappointed with the product and price in the end. I never understood why product packaging and quality were not equal to each other, or why so many companies added chemical versions or plant derivatives which could be found in more natural, concentrated pure forms. This frustration sent me into marketing research frenzy, and I figured I really had nothing to loose if I found the right eco friendly manufacturers to work with. Once done, Bombshell was born.
Are you a large company? Who are you?
As of current, Bombshell Bath and Body is a family owned business consisting of only our manufacturers, my Brother and I. Once our manufacturing team has created our products, my Brother handles the business end and I do the rest. So no, we are definitely not a large company!
Who designs your cute labels?
Again, that would be me and only me! Once I come up with a name for a product, I start the label design process. Once perfect, I print them all and apply- its tedious but worth every minute.
Are these products safe and suitable for all skin types?
All bases are made in A cGMP compliant facility as well as FDA Registered and USDA Organic Certified. As each shipment of product bases arrives, they are carefully inspected by Bombshell whether pre-packaged for individual sale or of bulk size and all finishing touches performed by us are done in a safe and sterile environment. While all of our products are botanically based, certified organic and cruelty free, the majority of our products are also certified vegan through the Vegan Action Council and Vegan Cosmetics Organization. We are also members of the Organic Trade Association (OTA).
As an extra precaution and simply for good business practices, all product batches are tested on us for 30 days prior to any sale to the public... RE our body moisturizers and scrubs, these are safe for all skin types; of course if your skin is dry its best to pick one of the thicker lotions/creams and if oily you might opt for a foaming scrub instead of oil based. Facial products of course depend on each person's skin type and need, as some add moisture and others are intended to control oil production, etc.
What about safely of all natural products?
We believe that natural is better, period. We live and breath the concept of "wearing vitamins", and stand true to the idea that if it is good for the skin going in (fruits, veggies, vitamins and minerals), it is also beneficial topically. Essentially, you should feed your skin! Your safety concerns may be based upon the rules of ingestible all natural supplements more so than beauty products, as not all plants are obviously, good to take in. Here at Bombshell we carefully study plants and botanicals which are safe and beneficial for the skin, and they are safely packaged using federal guidelines. Although we can't speak for all companies, we assure you there is no safety issue with Bombshell products.
Aren't some chemicals actually good for the skin?
While it is true that some chemical additives commonly found in cutting-edge beauty products seem to work miracles, consider where those chemicals are most often derived from as well as the effects they are replicating. For example, do you know what aminophylline is? It is a derivative of the active Ingredient theophylline which is used to relax certain types of muscles (best known for its use as an asthma medication), and the main ingredient in some of the most popular cellulite treatment creams on the market. But what is this virtually unpronounceable word really? Well, its plain old caffeine. And what exactly are Alpha Hydroxy Acids? These are beneficial exfoliates which can be found naturally in milk products, plants, and fruits. Without mentioning names, there are creams and serums out there which cost over $1,000 and what is the main ingredient? Sea Kelp! Do you really feel secure slathering chemicals you cannot pronounce all over your body? As our customers know, you will never find an Ingredient listed on our products that you aren't familiar with.
I have oily skin and always buy your foaming scrub polishes. I'd like to try some of your oil based scrubs but am afraid they might cause breakouts. Should I stick with the foaming scrubs instead?
We get this question a lot actually, and we never tire of answering it truthfully. Everyone's skin, be it dry or oily, needs moisture and exfoliation. Often people falsely believe that because they have oily skin they should avoid oil based products. While this may be true when it comes to cosmetics worn 8-12 hours per day which can clog pores, this is not the case with body scrubs or our facial lotions. Because the skin is constantly exposed to dehydrating elements and environmental toxins, everyone should adhere regular sloughing of the skin. Our polishes deep clean and detoxify the skin leaving it extremely clean and unclogged, refreshed and glowing. They remove build ups of dead skin cells, residue and toxins, leaving the skin primed for absorbing the nutrients and benefits of your favorite oil or lotion. All of our polishes, be they foaming or oil based, will hydrate your skin and work hard to trap the moisture which is already there. If you'd like to try one of our oil based scrubs but are worried about breakouts or have problems with surface oils, we advise you use them as a kind of moisture mask for a few minutes and then wash off with your normal body cleanser, as apposed to our customers with dry skin who wash first then scrub. But No matter what technique you choose, you will see and feel results instantly. And did we mention the sweet scent will remain on your skin all day? Yummy!
Why can't I order large sizes of scrubs or Body Soufflés? Why don't you offer them and just raise your price?
In researching body scrubs, we found the majority were only available in 10-16 oz jars priced anywhere from $25-$165 each. When you break this down, sizes that large typically change consistency prior to being used up; they can dry out and harden or simply loose potency and scent. Because of this, it just doesn't seem the consumer really gets their money's worth and sizing was a real issue for us in the beginning. We knew we did not want to charge an arm and a leg for a large tub of scrub which may get tossed prior to being used up and also had concerns over keeping our scrubs fresh. Because scrubs are typically only used a few times per week combined with our goal to make it convenient as possible for customers to try as many of our products without spending a ton, we opted to carry the option of smaller size availability. As our customers know, the 6 oz much more affordable, heavily packed, fresh, last an amazingly long time without loosing potency, and do not clutter up your bathroom!
Can I purchase Bombshell products locally?
Bombshell Products are available for purchase at Who's your Betty Boutique on College Ave in Oakland Ca and Get Go Retro in Maryland and we are currently in negotiations with a handful of small boutiques in the Bay Area, Napa Valley, and Los Angeles but will still limit item sale amounts as if it were personal, daily appointments. We also sell throughout all of California in person, at parties, conventions, vending events, farmers markets, through small DIY retailers such as Etsy, and of course our website site. Call me quirky, but I never intended on mass production or going the big-chain route. While I wouldn't quite go so far as to call ourselves "exclusive", we really aren't interested in having our products available in overload or on every store shelf. our customers understand the Bombshell motto of limited quantities=big quality and it makes them feel good, which we like! To insure the freshest products possible I never place large quantity advanced orders such as would be required with a larger retailer- not even for large events or conventions.
To this day, the majority of our business is through word of mouth personal sales and vending events. We do a lot of vending events and auctions, sometimes twice per month. We also set up meetings with individuals prospective customers, get to know their likes and dislikes, scent preferences and skin concerns and then as Bombshell fans already know, the products sell themselves. We prefer to sell this way because it's intimate and personalized; guests get to try products before buying, ask questions and we all get to know each other. This way we can properly evaluate the needs of customers, almost like having your own personal shopper.
How do I place an order for something in your catalog which I can't find at a store or is out of stock online?
That's easy! just shoot us an email and we will complete your order via mail or will let you know when your item will be in stock. You can also do special requests through ourwebsite. Or if you're local/Northern California, fell free to make an appointment with us in person.
